The strongest card of small manufacturers

The mobile phones adaptable to 2 simcards first appeared in Vietnam in 2007. Most of the products were made by unknown manufacturers and imported from China.

Later, Vietnamese telecom groups also jumped into the profitable market by launching multi-simcard products. Even the world’s big manufacturers like Nokia, Samsung, Phillips, Alcatel and LG have also developed 2-SIM models.

2-SIM phones were understood as low cost products, which are equipped with the basic features. However, the concept has changed a lot over the last 2 years. More and more 2-SIM phones with strong configuration, including Vietnamese brand blockbuster products have been marketed recently.

VinaPhone, one of the three biggest mobile network operators, has made its presence in the mobile phone market by launching Avio Sky A850, a product believed to target teenage customers, students, office workers.

The model has 5.3 inch screen, quad core processor Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro, 1.5GHz, RAM 2GB, 13 megapixel camera, Bluetooth 4.0, 4G LTE, Wifi, running on Android 4.0 ICS.

Other domestic manufacturers also introduced high configuration 2-SIM smart phones in the first three months of the year.

FPT, the Vietnamese leading technology group, for example, marketed FPT IV with 4.5 inch screen, RAM 1GB and internal memory 4GB, while Q-Mobile launched Q-Smart S16 and Q-Smart S21 with 4 inch screen, Ram 512MB, and 4GB memory. Meanwhile, Mobistar has introduced Touch KEM 452 HDMI with 4.5 inch screen, dual core chip 1GHz, RAM 1GB, and Hkphone introduced Revo HD4 with HD 5 inch screen, quad core chip cortex A7, RAM 1GB.

The parameters about the strong configuration of the products are attractive enough to convince office workers. Besides, the products can also catch the attention of customers because they are thin and light with modern designs – the most important factors Vietnamese would consider when seeking to purchase mobile phones nowadays.

Especially, some models have the designs relatively similar to the blockbuster products like iPhone 5, Galaxy S3 or Lumia 920, from the color, appearance to the cover material. Meanwhile, the low cost products are 50-70 percent cheaper than the blockbuster products. Therefore, they can win the hearts of many Vietnamese who want cheap products with many modern features.

There is one more important factor that can convince Vietnamese to buy the products is the good post-sale services committed by the manufacturers. Most of them have promised the 1-year warranty period and other attractive post-sale services. Some sales agents have reported that their clients have to queue up to get deliveries.

2-SIM smart phone becomes new tendency in the world

In fact, the phones are adaptable to more than one simcard have become in fashion not only among popular users, but among the rich as well. And not only small manufacturers try to attract customers with 2-SIM products, but the well- known big manufacturers have also tried to market high end products with powerful configuration.

Galaxy Grand Duos, the 2-SIM version of Galaxy S3 has made its official presence in the Vietnamese market.

The smart phones with 2 simcards also caught the visitors to the MWC 2013 exhibition which took place in Barcelona, Spain. This is believed to trigger a new trend in the world of using the smart phones with 2 simcards.
