VietNamNet Bridge - The 29th APEC Minsterial Meeting (AMM 29) officially opened in the central city of Da Nang with the attendance of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Economics of 21 APEC member economies.

Chairman of the National Committee for APEC 2017, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh and Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh co-chaired the meeting.

In the opening speech, Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh emphasized APEC's role in promoting regional and global economy, bringing benefits to the people in the region.

He highly appreciated the efforts and effective cooperation of APEC officials, businesses and related parties through 9 ministerial meetings and dialogues, and more than 200 meetings of committees, sub-commitees and working groups in the year, which brought about concrete results to concretize the theme "Create New Dynamism, Fostering the Shared Future" and four priorities for cooperation of the APEC 2017.

Deputy PM Minh suggested that the meeting focus on three objectives: Firstly, reviewing the results of the APEC cooperation process this year; Secondly, completing preparatory works for the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting that is going to take place in the next two days; Thirdly, deciding orientations for cooperation in key areas.

According to Minister of Industry and Trade Tuan Anh, at the meeting, members will discuss what APEC has been doing to address this important goal and the next steps to accelerate the completion of the Bogor Goals.

He said that members countries are trying to complete the plans and initiatives of APEC. In that process, APEC member economies always show cohesion, creating a driving force for the region.
