Exploring the power of an international community at ISHCMC

Creating a genuine international community involves more than assembling students of different nationalities. ISHCMC actively nurtures its community by organizing cultural events, parent workshops, and offering comprehensive support through its parent liaisons for Vietnamese, Korean, and Japanese families.  

With over 60 workshops annually, parents gain insights into the school’s curriculum and are better equipped to support their children’s education. Conducted in multiple languages, these sessions simplify complex educational concepts, bridging gaps in understanding regardless of language barriers.  

Beyond workshops, parents can connect more personally through Rhino Academy, an adult enrichment program offering classes ranging from volleyball and language learning to obtaining a motorbike license. These programs foster both skill development and social connections, building a close-knit network of families.  

For newcomers to Vietnam or those unfamiliar with English, ISHCMC’s parent liaison groups serve as essential guides. These liaisons provide translation services and cultural insights, ensuring all families can engage comfortably in school life and educational activities.  

Events that celebrate unity and diversity  

ISHCMC hosts colorful celebrations, such as the World Food Fest and Flag Parade, while fostering unity through community-wide events like the Rhino Family Fun Night. This recent event featured games, art activities, and a musical performance by Saigon Soul Revival, uniting students, parents, and staff under the ISHCMC banner.  

The school’s commitment to global citizenship extends beyond its campus. Partnerships with local organizations like Anh Chi Em social enterprise and public events such as the Festive Bazaar underscore its dedication to the broader community.  

Set for November 30, the Festive Bazaar will offer international cuisine, seasonal treats, live performances, and unique activities like a scavenger hunt, roller disco, and a heritage exhibition celebrating ISHCMC’s 31-year legacy. This free event is an opportunity for new families to witness the strength of ISHCMC’s community while enjoying a memorable day with the school’s current members.  

A highlight of the event is the ISHCMC Heritage Exhibition, commemorating the school’s 31st anniversary with an engaging display of video footage, photography, and memorabilia from the 1990s.
