VietNamNet Bridge - After winning a jackpot worth VND92 billion (nearly $4 million), the family of Mrs. Nguyen Thi Anh Dao in the southern province of Tra Vinh has encountered manyproblems because of curious people.
On October 17 Dao won the VND92.03 billion jackpot of Vietnam Computerized Lottery Company or Vietlott. Besides the great luck, the family had to close the door to avoid nuisances and being attacked by people.
Vietlott last Tuesday afternoon handed over VND83 billion (US$3.71 million) to Dao, the jackpot winner of its lottery game ‘Mega 6/45’ at an award ceremony in HCM City. The sum includes a ten percent tax deduction from the original jackpot of over VND92 billion ($4 million).
Dao did not show off at the event but her father, who wore a mask to hide his identity although the media, previously had published his uncensored photos.
Many sick and disadvantaged people flocked to Tra Vinh to see the jackpot winner ask for money.
On October 19, the local authorities had to send militias to the area around Dao’s home to maintain order as many people surrounded the house to ask for money.
From 6am on October 19 men sat in front of Dao’s house to wait for charitable gifts.

This sick man sat in front of the house for two days to wait for the jackpot winner. On October 19 a relative of Dao gave him VND50,000 ($2.5).
A local official said that the jackpot winner’s family had run away from home. He was assigned by the local authorities to persuade people to go home and return when Dao delivered charity gifts.
Since Dao won the jackpot, the sale of Vietloft lottery tickets have risen sharply, said a lottery ticket seller in Tra Vinh.
