At Hanoi's Hoan Kiem Lake, over 700 women in traditional Ao Dai set a new record by forming the iconic Hanoi Flag Tower and Peace Symbol, while raising funds for flood victims.
This remarkable event was part of the Hanoi Autumn Festival, an initiative organized by the Hanoi People’s Committee to promote culture and tourism. The festival also marks the 70th anniversary of Hanoi's Liberation Day (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024).
Despite being scaled down due to the effects of Typhoon No. 3, the program focused on fundraising efforts to support flood-stricken communities in northern Vietnam.
Designer Hoang Ly, together with the Ao Dai Culture Club and the Vietnamese Women Connecting from All Directions group, led the formation at Ba Kieu Temple Garden.
Participants, dressed in Ao Dai and wearing traditional conical hats, created the iconic shape of the Hanoi Flag Tower and a Peace Dove symbol while singing the national anthem in the sacred space of Hoan Kiem Lake.
This event, attended by 700 women, set a new record for Vietnam: "The largest gathering of people in Ao Dai and conical hats forming the Hanoi Flag Tower and Peace Dove symbol." The record was officially recognized by the Vietnam Record Organization.
Following the record-setting formation, the Ao Dai Culture Club and the Vietnamese Women Connecting from All Directions group launched a fundraising campaign to support communities heavily affected by Typhoon No. 3 in northern Vietnam.
Prior to this event, the group had already raised over VND 100 million in donations for flood relief efforts.
