Earlier that morning, T.Q.D., 9, from Dong Thap and currently residing in Binh Co ward, climbed onto a rooftop on Hoi Nghia 57 Street to catch a cat. He slipped and fell into a narrow gap between two brick walls, where he became stuck. Residents who discovered the incident quickly alerted authorities.

Upon receiving the report, local police and rescue forces arrived promptly and deployed a rescue plan. Due to the unstable structure of the wall, which posed a risk of collapse, they could not break it open. Instead, they applied cooking oil to reduce friction and carefully extract the child.

During the rescue, the boy was reassured and given water through a tube.

By around 10:40am the same day, rescue teams had successfully freed the child and brought him to safety.
