Vo Ta Nam, 35, her grandson, told VietNamnet that she had nine children, including five sons and four daughters. Of these, three have passed away. Nam is the son of Tu’s sixth child.

Tu, who has a special passion for sports and fitness, has been walking and doing physical exercise in the morning for 20 years.

“Every morning, she wakes up at 4 am to say her prayers. At 5am, she walks around the lake twice, 400 meters from my house, with a total distance of about 3.5-4 kilometers. After walking, she goes home to have a shower, eat breakfast and then help her children and grandchildren with housework,” Nam said.

The grandmother has a passion for swimming. Three and four times a month, Nam takes her to the beach to take in the fresh air and swim in the sea.

Two months ago, Nam took Tu to the gym and realized that his grandmother likes to walk on treadmills and use other machines.

“So, instead of walking on streets every morning, she goes to the gym. I help her with some physical exercise, and then she walks on the treadmill for about 45 minutes. Just after two months, doing gymnastics has become a habit, a passion of hers,” he said.

Nam was surprised about his grandmother’s flexibility and endurance. The practice helps her be healthier and relaxed, and she sleeps better.

“At the age of 96, Tu is still clear-headed, healthy, and can take care of herself in all her personal activities. In free time, she can help clean rooms and prepare meals."

Nam said she "lives happily, lives healthily and lives usefully".

Tu is always cheerful and optimistic so she attracts the attention of people wherever she goes. At the gym, she is admired by many people for her good health and enthusiasm.

Asked about her hobbies of walking and doing gymnastics, Tu said: “I like playing sports and doing physical exercise very much. I have been doing this for many years and it is a habit which I have never given up."old people, physical exercise,
