With mountain ranges 2,000 to over 3,000 meters above sea level, it is common to see unique green moss-covered forests.

The forests are a form of epiphyte. Moss, ferns, and orchids on trees and stones receive warmth and nutrients from the dew, rain and air.

Millions of trees and vines in the forests of Ta Xua in Yen Bai Province and Hoang Lien Son in Lao Cai and Lai Chau provinces are covered with green moss, creating an interesting scene. These photos were captured after many trips to the northwestern region.
