The three terminals are to be financed by ACV’s development investment fund, the Vietnam News Agency reported.

The second terminal at Cat Bi International Airport in the northern port city of Haiphong will have a floor area of 15,000 square meters and a designed capacity of five million passengers per year. This terminal has a total investment of some VND1.6 trillion.

A new terminal is to be developed at Vinh International Airport in the north-central province of Nghe An and will be able to handle five million passengers per year, including one million international tourists and four million local tourists.

Boasting some 16,500 square meters of floor space, the terminal will cost an estimated VND1.7 trillion.

Phu Bai International Airport in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue will also have a new terminal, which will be able to serve five million passengers per year. The facility will have a floor area of some 16,500 square meters and will cost some VND1.7 trillion.

Work on these terminals is expected to start in the third quarter of next year and will last one and a half years. They are scheduled to be put into operation in late 2020.

According to the ACV, each terminal will accommodate jetways that allow passengers to board and disembark by bus, passenger boarding bridges, road systems to and from the terminals, parking lots in front of the terminals, trees and other facilities.

The corporation is about to place bids for consulting companies to make feasibility study reports on the new terminals. The period for preparing investments, compensation, demolition and site clearance, design and procurement lasts around one year and two months.

The ACV has proposed the people’s committees of Haiphong, Nghe An and Thua Thien-Hue ask their competent agencies to work closely with the corporation and the three airports in a bid to guarantee work on these terminals is completed on schedule.

The ACV expects the local government agencies to hand over available land in the first quarter of next year so that the corporation can carry out site preparation works and then begin construction in the third quarter of the same year.
