As reported by local media, representatives of Airbus, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, and the Air Defense-Air Force of Vietnam met on Tuesday to discuss the search and rescue operation.

The plane crashed last Thursday while it was flying off the coast of Haiphong City in search for pilot Tran Quang Khai of the missing Su30-MK2 fighter jet, which plunged into the northern sea two days earlier during a routine training session.

Once recovering the plane’s black boxes and debris, Airbus will analyze them and reconstruct the incident under the supervision of Vietnam’s Ministry of National Defense.

The Airbus representative pledged to provide Vietnam with maximum support to determine the cause of the accident and searching for the bodies of nine missing airmen on board the CASA.

The search team on June 22 continued to retrieve pieces which may belong to the CASA in the waters near Bach Long Vi island off the coast of Haiphong City in the north.

Senior Lieutenant General Vo Van Tuan, deputy chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, told Tuoi Tre newspaper that weather conditions in the Bach Long Vi area improved on June 22.

Modern devices, including robots, have been deployed to the area where the sea patrol plane reportedly went missing.

According to Tuan, searchers have not identified the location of the black boxes, so they were unable to retrieve them on June 22 as some news sites had reported.

Local fishermen in the sea area reportedly found a metal seat, said a Bach Long Vi official.
