Amazon Global Selling today launched its local team in Vietnam to support Vietnamese enterprises in selling products globally.

With a local team, Amazon Global Selling could now mentor Vietnamese enterprises directly in selling products on Amazon platform, including the process of account registration, creating list of products, managing account, among others.

The move offers Vietnamese sellers, brands owners and producers opportunities from online exports.

Bernard Tay, Amazon’s regional director for Southeast Asia, said Vietnam is one of a handful of countries with huge advantages in manufacturing and processing. The launch of Amazon Global Selling team in Vietnam continues to solidify its efforts in supporting the local business community, Tay added.

Moreover, the recently launched Amazon Singapore would serve as a bridge for Vietnamese sellers taking their products to Amazon’s customers worldwide, Tay asserted.

Hoang Minh Chien, vice director of Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (VIETTRADE) under the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT), highly regarded Amazon’s effort in taking Vietnamese enterprises go global.

Chien expected the cooperation between local enterprises and Amazon would turn into practical benefits for the former.

Previously, Amazon Global Selling and VIETTRADE jointly worked in a program supporting Vietnamese enterprises selling products on Amazon.com. So far, many Vietnamese products, including footwear, handicraft and textile products have received positive responses from Amazon customers.

Bui Kim Thuy, director of a company selling “Ao Dai” on Amazon, said the platform helps pave the way for sellers approach international customers easily.

In the near future, VIETTRADE is scheduled to sign a memorandum of understanding with Amazon in promoting e-commerce, training selling skills and providing consultation for enterprises.

Vu Ba Phu, VIETTRADE’s director, said earlier that the cooperation with Amazon is a major step for Vietnamese goods accessing global markets.

As of present, 98% of some 700,000 enterprises in Vietnam are of small and medium size, however, they are facing challenges in exporting goods, especially in accessing information, market forecast, competitiveness and network expansion, Phu added.

Amazon’s program presents Vietnam’s enterprises a huge opportunity to access  its over 300 million customers, he stressed. Hanoitimes
