Dustin Cheverier, born in 1988, is one of a number of famous content creators in Vietnam. He has a YouTube channel with 820,000 followers.

Dustin has been living in HCM City for 10 years, sharing videos about his travel experiences and discoveries about culture and food in many cities and provinces in Vietnam, from the north to the south.

The American man says that Vietnamese cuisine is very appealing, so he spends time to experience local specialties, from common to special dishes that not all westerners are willing to try.

Most recently, he took a cycling trip from Hanoi to HCM City. During that time, he had the opportunity to visit many places and discover local specialties. 

When he visited Huong Khe Town in Ha Tinh, the YouTuber discovered a delicious and affordable dish – chao long (pork organ congee).

Dustin said he had eaten pho (noodle soup served with beef or chicken) and bun cha (kebab rice noodle) many times, some would be happy if he discovered unfamiliar dishes.

Although he had never tried chao long, he had once tried similar soups – chao luon (eel congee) and sup luon (eel soup) in Vinh City of Nghe An province.

The western diner found that the congee has a delicious and unique flavor. However, this dish is served hot and can easily burn diners’ mouth, so they should enjoy it slowly.

After completing the first serving, Dustin ordered another full bowl of porridge. The American said he needed to regain his strength to continue his journey.

“I burn a lot of calories as I cycle every day. I consume 9,000 calories each day, so I need to eat enough to have energy to continue the journey,” the 36-year-old said.

In addition to the great taste, he said satisfied the chao luon was cheap, just VND25,000 per serving.

Dustin is well known in Vietnam not just as a YouTuber. In 2020, he caught the public’s attention when appearing on programs in English on the Vietnam National Television VTV7, including ‘The Debaters’. Prior to that, along with Vietnamese Khanh Vy, he hosted the ‘Follow Us’ show which was nominated for VTV Awards 2018 best program.

Before becoming known as an MC and YouTuber, he once worked as a model, performing during international fashion weeks in Vietnam.
