Cheverier, born in 1988, from the US, is a well known content creator in Vietnam, with a YouTube channel attracting 820,000 followers.
He has been living in HCM City for 10 years and regularly shares videos about his tourism and food experiences in many cities and provinces, from the south to the north.
During his recent cycling journey throughout the country, Dustin had a stay in the ancient capital of Hue. He revealed that he traveled hundreds of kilometers from the north of Dong Hoi City in Quang Binh to Hue City to enjoy Bun bo Hue (Hue beef noodle soup) in its original land.
Bun bo Hue was recognized by the Asian Record Organization as one of the 100 dishes with Asian culinary value in 2016. The famous dish of the ancient capital is also listed among the top 100 Vietnamese specialties (2020 - 2021).
Dustin said in the past he would choose pho (noodle soup served with chicken or beef), called the national traditional dish, but now he prefers Bun bo Hue. He also likes other dishes made of noodles and vermicelli, such as ‘mi Quang’ (Quang styled noodle), ‘hu tieu’ (Vietnamese pork and shrimp noodle soup) and ‘bun rieu’ (Vietnamese crab noodle soup).
The restaurant Dustin visited was the one on Hanoi Road in Vinh Ninh ward, which has been open for the last 20 years and become a familiar destination for local diners.
The American YouTuber said he once tried Bun bo Hue in HCM City where he lives, but this was the first time he had enjoyed the dish in its original locale.
At the restaurant, Dustin ordered a special serving with full toppings including pig's trotters, leg pork, meatballs, tendons, blood and crab cakes.
He thought the bowl was very attractive with lettuce, bean sprouts and Vietnamese balm (Elsholtzia cristata).
He noted that at some restaurants, dishes were served with little meat. Therefore, the 36-year-old YouTuber felt satisfied about the Bun bo Hue with a lot of meat.
“I like big pieces of pork like these,” he said, adding that the dish was good which deserved a 10/10 score.
The American diner said the dish was prepared with a harmonious balance between vegetables and meat, so it is good for health and suited to people who exercise regularly and need a regime rich in protein.
