Saigon Heat have strengthened their team by signing on giant player Darius Lewis to prepare for the second edition of the Viet Nam Basketball Association league.
Darius Lewis comes to Saigon Heat in his first pro basketball tournament.
Saigon Heat, who unexpectedly lost their title in the first season, signed a contract with the 2.11m American last week.
According to Saigon Heat CEO Connor Nguyen, Lewis is a quality and smart player, who’s not only good in defence but can also assist his teammates during attacking play.
Lewis, 23, has graduated from the Duquesne University. He was a member of the university team for the last four years.
Earlier, Saigon Heat ended their relationship with coach Anthony Garbelotto, who failed to help them through the playoffs in the ASEAN Basketball League. Former Cantho Catfish coach David Singleton has been given the hot seat.
The Heat has also lured Anthony Vo from HCM City Wings.
