VietNamNet Bridge – For women in the small village of Chau Thuan Bien, the sea is like a double-edged sword. It provides their livelihood, but takes away many of their husbands.
In early August 19, hundreds of fishermen rushed to the waters of Binh Chau Commune, Binh Son District, Quang Ngai Province to illegally salvage artifacts from a fourth ancient ship which was just discovered on the evening of August 18.
VietNamNet Bridge – On August 16, people of Chau Thuan village in Binh Chau Commune, Binh Son District, Quang Ngai Province, discovered the 2nd ancient ship which was only 100m from the wreck found early this year.
VietNamNet Bridge - After salvaging 4,000 artifacts from the ancient wreck in Binh Chau, Quang Ngai province, experts and archaeologists have discovered many precious artifacts around the ship.
To preserve the underwater cultural heritage in Binh Chau, Quang Ngai, authorities have assigned Doan Anh Duong Co., Ltd. to expand the survey area to look for other ancient ships in the surrounding area of the 700-year-old wreck.
"For the first time Vietnamese experts have excavated the shipwreck dating back to the 13th century. This is the oldest wreck in Vietnam waters," said the former director of the Vietnam National Museum of History.
