VietNamNet Bridge – A stone stele dated back to the Nguyen Dynasty in the 19th century was discovered at a temple in Duc Dong commune in Duc Tho district of Ha Tinh province.

Le Ba Hanh, deputy director of the Ha Tinh Museum, said the stele was unearthed by the museum staff in mid-January, during a survey of tangible cultural heritage in the province at the ruins of Hung Long temple.

The rectangular stele is made of black stone, 1.5 m high, with four sides measuring 50 cm wide each. The front, back and all sides are engraved with Chinese scripts, surrounded by stylized, symmetrical vine patterns.

"This is a unique and rare object, contributing to the conservation of cultural heritage of Buddhism in the development process of the nation's history," said Hanh.

Former staff of the Ha Tinh Museum in the past discovered a piece of stone wall of a citadel built during the Le Dynasty in Huong Son district.
