Vietnamese top swimmer Nguyen Thi Anh Vien on December 7 was ousted from the FINA World Swimming Championships (25m), which is taking place in Ontario, Canada.

Accordingly, Anh Vien missed the chance to earn medal when she started before the starting signal was given and was disqualified from the competition.

The winner of the world championship was Katinka Hosszu from Hungary with 4: 21.67. The second and third places went to Ella Eastin and Cox Madisyn from the US with 4: 27.74 and 4: 27.78, respectively.

Also at the competition, another Vietnamese swimmer, Lam Quang Nhat ranked 69th in men’s 400m freestyle with 4:14.36 and 45th in men’s 200m butterfly with 2:08.45.

Le Nguyen Paul ranked 25th in men’s 100m backstroke with 52.57 secs while Tran Duy Khoi placed 33th with 52.64 secs.

All of them bowed out of the competition.

Vien also competed in the FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) in Doha, Qatar, two years ago, where she ranked 13th in women’s 400m medley with 4:34.49.
