As the Tet Lunar New Year Festival nears, many people have been seen wearing Ao Dai while posing for photos in HCM City's streets.

The space in front of Ben Thanh Market is always crowded with people taking photos. Many young people take photos together to welcome the Lunar New Year.

Tam Anh, a resident in District 8, said many local people including her like to take some photos as momentos before the Lunar New Year comes. "The Ao Dai is becoming more popular for Tet photos this year," she said. "I've seen lots of my friends wearing it this year and so I also chose one."

A report by Ecommerce metrics showed that Vietnamese people spent VND41.50 billion (USD1.70 million) buying Ao Dai in December 2023 on some popular e-commerce online shopping platforms including Shopee, Lazada, Tiki, and Sendo.

Some well-known tourist sites in the city including the Ben Thanh Market and the Diamond Shopping Centre in District 1 have become popular check-in destinations.
