The Moscow-based REGNUM News Agency and the Research Support Foundation “Workshop of Eurasian Ideas” held a roundtable focusing on APEC 2017 and Vietnam in Moscow, Russia, on October 17.

Attending the event were 30 representatives of Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, other relevant offices and enterprises, and leading economists and experts on the Asian-Pacific region, and both Vietnamese and Russian students.

During the more than two-hour roundtable, participants discussed the tasks of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Forum 2017, prospects for Vietnam-Russia ties, the role of Russia in Asia-Pacific, as well as the position of Vietnam in the international arena and the world economy.

They also made recommendations to intensify the two countries’ relations in all fields and within the framework of APEC 2017.

Grigory Trofimtruk, Chairman of the Expert Council of the Eurasian Ideas foundation, stressed that Vietnam is playing an important role in the region and the global political process. Hosting APEC 2017 is a chance for the country to showcase its achievements and the stability of its economy.

Delegates agreed that the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week slated for November in Da Nang will contribute to strengthening economic security and global stability.
