President Tran Dai Quang reiterated Vietnam’s consistent policy of attaching importance to the friendship and cooperation with Cambodia during his meeting with Cambodian PM Hun Sen in central Da Nang city on November 11.

Their meeting took place on the sidelines of the APEC-ASEAN Informal Dialogue as part of the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week. 

Host and guest expressed their delight at the fruitful cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia across fields, bringing pragmatic interests to people of the two countries. 

They noted the coordination between the two sides’ relevant agencies and localities in organising the 2017 Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Year celebrating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties. 

PM Hun Sen shared losses caused by recent typhoon Damrey in Vietnam. 

The same day, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc met with the Cambodian leader. 

The PMs agreed to continue instructing relevant ministries, agencies and localities to organise practical activities marking the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Year.

The two sides will also maintain the exchange of high-level delegations and join hands to complete land border demarcation and marker planting as soon as possible, advance bilateral trade to 5 billion USD in 2020 and handle issues regarding the legal status of the Vietnamese in Cambodia. -VNA
