All the best sellers in 2017 were launched in 2016

The two brands attracted special attention from the public because of changes in design and new features created by advanced technologies.

However, in terms of sales, the competition in the Vietnamese mobile phone market is mostly seen in the mid-end market segment with models priced at VND4-7 million.
This market segment is controlled by Samsung and Oppo.

The list of the 10 bestsellers in 2017 provided by FPT Shop, one of the two biggest mobile phone distribution chains in Vietnam, showed only one Apple product – iPhone 6, which was in the ninth position.

Seven out of 10 bestsellers belonged to Samsung and Oppo. Samsung held the upper hand with four models found in the list.

The three leading models in the top 10 were Galaxy J7 Prime, Oppo A37 and Galaxy J7 Pro. According to the representative of FPT Shop, J7 Prime was among the bestsellers since its launch in July 2016. Samsung’s model came first in the 2017 tally.

All the bestsellers in 2017 were launched in 2016.

Demand for feature phones in Vietnam is still relatively high, despite the increasingly high proportion of Vietnamese shifting from feature phones to smartphones.

The surprises on the list were two Nokia feature phones. Analysts said that demand for feature phones in Vietnam is still relatively high, despite the increasingly high proportion of Vietnamese shifting from feature phones to smartphones.

iPhone was not the bestselling smartphone, but it gained high revenue because the value of every product sold was 2-3 times higher than other models.

Among 10 smartphone models which had highest revenue in 2017 at FPT Shop, four out of 10 belonged to iPhone series, including iPhone 7 (32 GB), iPhone 7 Plus(32GB & 128GB) and iPhone 6 (32GB). The figures once again show iPhone’s attractiveness to Vietnamese smartphone users.

Meanwhile, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X arrived in Vietnam in the last month of the year. So they were not found in the list of top 10 bestsellers.

Nguyen The Kha from FPT Shop said iPhone X has been ‘scorching hot’ in the Vietnamese market since its launch.

FPT Shop received 5,000 orders and sold 10,000 products in December 2017. The purchasing power of iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus at FPT Shop was also very high: four out of every 100 iPhone products sold were iPhone 8 or iPhone 8 Plus.
