VietNamNet Bridge – Viet Nam's Ministry of Information and Communications launched a media competition yesterday, July 22, based on environmental protection and climate change within the ASEAN community.

Organisations and individuals from ASEAN countries are invited to submit photos, reports and documentary films on the subject to the ministry before October 31.

According to Deputy Minister Do Quy Doan, the competition aims to build a clean and green ASEAN with a stable mechanism for environmental protection and the sustainable use of natural resources in the region, as well as living standards in ASEAN countries.

The competition will also promote co-operation and mutual understanding within ASEAN.

The awards ceremony will take place on December 17 this year.

In the reports and documentary film category, the winner will receive a trophy and VND35 million (US$1,600).

In the photography category, a trophy and VND20 million (US$1,000) will be awarded for first prize.

Contestants are not permitted to submit entries that have already been used in other international contests. Detailed information of the competition can be found on the ministry's website at www.mic.gov.vn.
