The Asian Carom Billiards Championship 2018 kicked off in Ho Chi Minh City on April 4, gathering leading cueists from Japan, the Republic of Korea and Vietnam.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, President of the Asian Carom Billiards Confederation (ACBC) Sam Huyn Nam said the points gained by participating players could help them reach higher position in the Union Mondiale de Billiard (UMB) rankings.

It is also a chance for the Vietnamese team to assess their players’ performance before they attend the World Cup event in Altalya, Turkey in late April and another World Cup event in Ho Chi Minh City in May.

After the opening ceremony, players entered the first days of direct knockouts. 

The match between Choi Sung Won from the RoK and Mizutani Kouji of Japan ended with a 100-43 victory for the RoK player. Vietnamese player Pham Quoc Tuan defeated Japanese cueist Machida Tadashi with the score 100-61.-VNA
