Vietnam’s 18-year-old outside hitter Pham Quynh Huong is attracting growing attention at the 2026 Asian Women’s Volleyball Championship in China.
On the morning of Aug. 24, the Vietnam women’s national volleyball team defeated Hong Kong, China, 3-0 to claim their first victory at the 2026 Asian Women’s Volleyball Championship.
Pham Quynh Huong was Vietnam’s standout performer in the match.
The 18-year-old scored 15 points, the highest tally of any player in the match.
The Binh Chung Thong Tin club player delivered an explosive performance.
In Vietnam’s opening match against a strong South Korean side, she also scored 13 points, second only to senior teammate Tran Thi Thanh Thuy.
Quynh Huong has impressed not only in attack but also in serve reception, handling more first passes than any other player on the Vietnamese team.
Pham Quynh Huong is one of the leading representatives of a new generation in Vietnamese women’s volleyball.
Asian media have shown particular interest in the 18-year-old Vietnamese hitter. Tran Thi Thanh Thuy served as interpreter for her younger teammate as she spoke to reporters.
Vietnam’s women’s volleyball team is undergoing a generational transition, and Quynh Huong is among the young players expected to eventually fill the void left by Tran Thi Thanh Thuy.
