The bicycle rare, due to get underway in Vientiane on December 4, is part of sidelines activities to welcome the first parliamentary summit between the three countries that is also scheduled to take place in Vientiane on December 4.
Addressing the send-off ceremony in Hanoi on December 2, Bui Van Cuong, secretary general of the Vietnamese National Assembly, noted that the race will serve to promote the regional sports movement, enhance people-to-people exchanges, and strengthen the close friendship that exists among the three countries.
The sporting event will gather together cyclists from three countries to compete in a 35.2-km distance race in Vientiane.
Also on this occasion, the Vietnam Motor-Bicycle Sports Federation will donate bicycles to Vietnamese children at Nguyen Du Bilingual School in Laos.
Under the the Joint Declaration of the Presidents of the National Assemblies of Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam (CLV) signed on November 20, 2022, in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, the CLV Parliamentary Summit aims to strengthen the friendship, solidarity, and comprehensive co-operation among the three countries.
The first summit will feature sessions on socio-economic and cultural as well defense and security cooperation.
The CLV Parliamentary Summit is scheduled to be held every two years under the rotational chair of the leaders of the three National Assemblies.
