Thanks to the adoption of an online scheduling system provided by Vietnam Register, residents are now able to register their auto inspection appointments in advance, replacing the previous practice of making a visit without a prior appointment.

According to a report by the Ministry of Transport, the current capacity of auto inspection centers shows a redundancy of 32-45%. In Hanoi, where there are 27 inspection centers with 45 lines, they have the capacity to handle 2,700 vehicles per day. However, the number of vehicles seeking inspection services currently stands at 1,610 per day, utilizing only 60% of the available capacity.

Similarly, in HCMC, 17 operating centers equipped with 33 lines have a maximum handling capacity of 1,980 vehicles. Nevertheless, the actual number of vehicles being inspected per day is only 68% of this capacity.

The number of vehicles requiring inspection has declined by two million following the recent issuance of circulars 02/2023 and 08/2023 by the Ministry of Transport which exempt brand new vehicles from inspection for the first time and extend the inspection cycle for non-commercial vehicles, respectively.
