Released on December 19, Avatar 3 has consistently held the top spot at the box office. As of 8:00 a.m. on December 29, according to data from Box Office Vietnam, the film by director James Cameron has grossed approximately 192 billion VND (around 7.9 million USD) and is expected to cross the 200 billion VND (over 8.2 million USD) mark by the end of the day.

In just the last weekend, Avatar 3 earned 40.5 billion VND (about 1.66 million USD) across 9,252 screenings.

Surprisingly, Zootopia 2 held onto second place despite earning just 6 billion VND (approximately 246,000 USD) over the weekend. Still, the animated hit’s total revenue in the Vietnamese market has already exceeded 213 billion VND (about 8.75 million USD). It's been a long time since two Hollywood films have simultaneously maintained their grip on the top two positions in Vietnam’s box office with such commanding numbers.

In contrast, Nha hai chu (The House with Two Owners), a Vietnamese production that debuted over the weekend, only ranked third with a modest 5.5 billion VND (roughly 225,000 USD) in weekend revenue. Including earnings from early preview screenings, its total revenue stands at 9 billion VND (around 370,000 USD).

Two other international releases from the same weekend shared a similar fate, posting underwhelming ticket sales. Anaconda: Clash of the Super Python earned just 2.2 billion VND (about 90,000 USD), placing fourth, while the animated film SpongeBob and the Pirate’s Curse brought in 1.4 billion VND (roughly 57,000 USD), ranking fifth.
