A 26-year-old woman in HCM City has died of the A/H1N1 flu virus, while another is in critical condition.

According to HCM City Department of Health, after having flu symptoms, the woman who was a housewife stayed at home for five days until her condition become more serious. Then she was hospitalised with pneumonia and respiratory failure. She died at HCM City Hospital for Tropical Diseases on May 30.    

Tests showed that she contracted A/H1N1 flu virus. 

After the incident, the municipal Department of Preventive Medicine worked with HCM City Pasteur Institute to minimise the possibility of wider infection.

At present, a man is staying at Cho Ray Hospital for A/H1N1 treatment with the critical condition. The 49-year-old man from Binh Thuan Province has been isolated.

According to the patient’s relatives, earlier, he transported a group of tourists to Danang City, including one who had flu.

After coming back home, he had a high fever and was taken to Binh Thuan General Hospital. However, his condition worsened and was moved to Cho Ray Hospital. After three days of treatment in Cho Ray Hospital, he has not yet seen any improvement.
