The Police Department in Yen Phong district, the northern province of Bac Ninh yesterday afternoon announced that they had been investigating a fight between Vietnamese workers and security guards at Samsung Display Vietnam, Yen Phong Viglacera industrial park.

At 1 p.m. on the same day, some workers of the company fought with a security guard, making him hospitalized.

Afterwards, over 1,000 workers gathered in front of the company causing pubic disorder. 

Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Tu Quynh said that authorized agencies had called on the workers to break up and return to work. 

However, the provincial Police Department has still assigned some officials to keep watch in front of the company to ensure order and investigated the case to strictly handle relevant individuals. 

On the same day afternoon, Samsung Vietnam affirmed there was no contradiction between Samsung and Vietnamese workers. 

The case was a misunderstanding between the company’s security guard team and construction workers during a longer than expected security inspection on the construction site at the company. 

A Samsung representative said that the injured security guard had recovered and none of the Vietnamese workers were hurt.
