The 2016 badminton tournament is scheduled to take place at the Ho Xuan Huong Gymnasium in HCM City between November 25-27.

The winner of the event will get the chance to compete with Việt Nam’s No 1 player Nguyen Tien Minh.

“Through this tournament, I hope that badminton will develop significantly in Viet Nam, and I hope I will inspire enthusiasm in junior players, helping them become more passionate about the sport through my experience,” said Olympian Minh.

The HCM City-born player Minh will contribute 50 per cent of the fees for every junior player who registers to take part in the event.

The tournament is expected to draw up to 200 players, competing in amateur and professional categories in the age groups of 18-30, 31-40, 41-50 and 51-60.

The total prize has been set at VNĐ100 million (US$4,500).
