The 2023 Ban Gioc Waterfall Tourism Festival is held at the time Vietnam and China have just approved the pilot program that allow tourists from both countries to travel through the Ban Gioc Waterfall Landscape Area of Vietnam and Detian Waterfall of China. 

The festival is held on a provincial scale to introduce and promote the image of the land and people of Cao Bang in general, especially introducing and promoting the national landscape of Ban Gioc Waterfall to domestic and international friends.

At the same time, the event aims to encourage mass movement and encourage people from all walks of life to enthusiastically emulate production, promote socio-economic development, ensure security and national defense, to futher attract investment and promote border trade activities.

The People's Committee of Cao Bang Province has directed the Management Board of Ban Gioc Waterfall Tourist Area not to charge fees on tourists participating in the 2023 Ban Gioc Waterfall Tourism Festival.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman of Cao Bang Trinh Truong Huy said that the Ban Gioc waterfall festival is held annually to promote and introduce the beautiful scenery of Ban Gioc waterfall, one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the world, to domestic and international tourists.

With its rare and majestic beauty, the national scenic spot of Ban Gioc waterfall was honored by many news agencies and travel sites around the world as the world's 4th largest waterfall located on the border between countries; Southeast Asia's largest natural waterfall; one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the world; one of the 10 most majestic waterfalls in the world; top 7 most majestic waterfalls in the world; Top 7 natural wonders in Asia.

The Ban Gioc Waterfall Tourism Festival 2023 takes place from October 5 to 9 with many activities.

The first is the Sacred Water Procession Ceremony, which prays for peace and good weather. The Organizing Committee conducted a water procession ceremony from the foot of Ban Gioc waterfall to Truc Lam Ban Gioc Pagoda.

Localities in Cao Bang province set up many booths to introduce Cao Bang's unique products, specialties and cuisine to visitors.

The festival also includes a photo exhibition, along with sports activities and folk games. Visitors participating in the festival can visit and experience the chestnut tree garden in Ban Khay, Chi Vien commune, Trung Khanh district.

In particular, on the morning of October 7, at Ban Gioc waterfall, within the framework of this year's festival, there are new activities, organized for the first time such as experiencing the chestnut garden in Ban Khe hamlet; the Then singing-Tinh musical instrument playing program with the participation of 1,000 people, with the theme "The roots and identity of Cao Bang's Then singing and Tinh musical instrument".
