Con Dao has many beautiful beaches, including Con Son Bay which consists of 14 islands, creating an interesting natural picture.

To get to Con Dao, tourists often take flights on small planes from Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi. If traveling by speedboat, they depart from Cau Da port in the southern city of Vung Tau, in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province.

Con Dao town is located in a valley shaped like a crescent moon. The length of the valley is about 8-10km, the width is 2-3km, and the average height is 3km above sea level.

This is an attractive destination for summer vacation.

Con Dao beach is always blue, especially when it is sunny. 

Room rates in Con Dao differ, ranging from 200,000 VND to more than 10 million VND. Visitors can camp overnight in some authorized places.

Con Dao is about 180km from Vung Tau city by sea. The closest place to Con Dao is Vinh Hai commune of the southern province of Soc Trang, which is 74km away. This island also has another name, Con Son, but this name is less common than Con Dao.

In history, Con Son used to be called Con Lon island. The old name in English and French documents was Poulo Condor.

The main terrain in Con Dao is mountainous. The granite ranges running from the southwest to the northeast create a strong geographical advantage, sheltering the local people from storms. The highest point of Con Dao is Thanh Gia (Cross) Mount with a height of up to 577m above sea level.

Con Dao's climate is the harmony of the equator and the hot and humid ocean forming two distinct seasons. The dry season starts from December and lasts until April, and the rainy season from May to November.

The average temperature in Con Dao is 26 degrees Celsius. May is the hottest time, sometimes up to 34 degrees Celsius. The average rainfall in the year reaches 2,200mm.

Currently, local authorities lease the sea surface to many businesses to farm seafood and mussels for pearls.

Areas without the impact of fishing boats are very quiet and wild.

Dam Trau Beach is considered the most beautiful beach in Con Dao (14km from the central town).

This beach is located near Co Ong airport, at the outer edge of Con Dao National Park. It is about 15km from the airport to the town center. Traveling this distance takes an average of 20-30 minutes.

Con Dao airport will be closed for upgrading and expansion from April to December 2023, as the Ministry of Transport has a plan to increase the use of helicopters to serve tourists.
