Berjaya Corp Bhd (BCorp) has been given authorization to operate a nationwide computerized lottery in Vietnam for the next 18 years, according to widely publicized local media reports.

A public relations officer at BCorp, in turn announced the conglomerate received an investment certificate to start the project on January 20, after winning the bid to run the lottery on May 2014, at a cost of US$210.58 million.

The certificate was issued by the Hanoi Department of Planning and Investment, after BCorp and the Vietnam Computerized Lottery One Member entered into a business contract subsequent to the winning bid announcement.

BCorp said the project is part of its plan to expand its gaming business internationally.

The project will be carried out by Berjaya Gia Thinh Investment Technology Joint Stock Co, a subsidiary of BCorp, which expects to launch its first game, a Lotto Jackpot game, by mid-2016.
