At the opening ceremony of Sen Village Festival 2026, Vietnam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism officially announced the recognition of the Kim Lien National Relic Site in Nghe An Province as a national tourism zone.

The designation is expected to create new momentum for cultural tourism development in the hometown of President Ho Chi Minh.

On the evening of May 18, Nghe An authorities held the opening ceremony of Sen Village Festival 2026 at Sen Village Stadium in Kim Lien Commune.

The event marked the beginning of activities commemorating the 136th birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh on May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2026.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Nghe An Provincial People’s Committee Thai Van Thanh described the Sen Village Festival as a major annual political and cultural event held in President Ho Chi Minh’s hometown.

According to Thanh, the festival offers people across the country an opportunity to express gratitude and deep respect for the late Vietnamese leader.

He said the event also helps promote the study and practice of President Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, morality and lifestyle while preserving Vietnam’s tradition of remembering those who came before.

Deputy Prime Minister Le Tien Chau presents the decision recognizing Kim Lien as a national tourism zone to leaders of Nghe An Province.

“By returning to Sen Village, visitors will better understand the peaceful and simple homeland of President Ho Chi Minh, while also experiencing the friendliness, cultural richness and evolving tourism offerings of Nghe An,” Thanh said.

During the ceremony, the Kim Lien National Relic Site was awarded the First-Class Labor Order by the President of Vietnam.

At the same event, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism officially announced the decision recognizing Kim Lien as a national tourism zone.

The recognition is expected to provide additional momentum for local tourism development and help promote the image of President Ho Chi Minh’s hometown to domestic and international visitors.

A highlight of the opening night was a special art performance divided into three chapters: “Lotus blooming on homeland soil,” “Footsteps of an era” and “Everlasting fragrance and beauty.”

Through music, visuals and stage performances, the program recreated the journey from Sen Village to President Ho Chi Minh’s path of national liberation while also portraying the spirit of national unity and aspirations for development in a new era.
