The data collected by BKAV, from scanning 516 websites from around the world over the past several months, shows that in Vietnam the percentage of sites with security holes amounts to 40%, significantly higher than figures for sites in Europe and the Americas with 15% and 5%, respectively.

BKAV Vice President Ngo Tuan Anh said that these serious security flaws are the primary reasons behind credit card and information theft in recent years.

According to BKAV, 347 websites in Vietnam were attacked in February this year.

He said that almost all Government agencies, companies and social organisations have their own websites but inadequate attention has been paid to security.

Website loopholes mainly result from the lack of quality assurance and the inexperience of web developers.

BKAV experts recommended that website owners invest more into security in order prevent their data from being compromised since the resolution of security problems requires much time and effort.
