VietNamNet Bridge - Nguyen Huu Vinh (nickname Anhbasam) and his subordinates are accused of writing many articles on the two blogs “Dan Quyen” and “Chep Su Viet” with the contents "smearing and distorting the truth of the State".

According to the Hanoi People's Court, Vinh, 60, and Nguyen Minh Thuy, 36, will go on trial on March 23 for the acts of “abusing democratic freedoms to infringe upon the interests of the State, the rights and legitimate interests of organizations and citizens”, Clause 2, Article 258. The highest punishment of this offense is seven years imprisonment.

According to the prosecutor's office, Vinh is director of the V-VPI Investigation and Protection Ltd. After creating the blogs “Dan Quyen” and “Chep Su Viet”, Vinh gave the passwords of the blogs and the right to manage the sites to the accountant of his company - Nguyen Minh Thuy.

“Dan Quyen” posted more than 2,000 entries, with nearly 40,000 comments.

In 2014, the Ministry of Information and Communications concluded that this blog posted 24 entries of "false, unfounded information, distorting the lines and policies of the Party and the laws of the State, smearing individuals, affecting the reputation of agencies and organizations, offering a pessimistic view, causing confusion, anxiety, affecting the trust of the masses on the country’s leaders".

The two blogs had more than 3.7 million hits, many comments with the negative contents.

Regarding some other individuals related to the behavior of Vinh and Thuy, the authorities said that they were exploited and did not know about the motive and the aim of Vinh and Thuy so their acts should not be handled.

Earlier, according to the security agencies, Vinh and Thuy had contacted with an RFA correspondent, who was one of the leaders of the anti-Vietnam forces in America.

Vinh, after graduation from the University of People's Security in 1979, worked for 20 years in the General Department of Security and was assigned to work for the Vietnam Committee for Overseas Affairs (the Foreign Ministry).

After leaving the security agency, in November 1999, the former lieutenant colonel set up the V Investigation and Protection Co., Ltd, a pioneer in the field of private detectives in Hanoi.

Vinh’s father (died) served as the Party Central Committee member in two terms, the Minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs and the Ambassador of Vietnam to the Soviet Union.
