VietNamNet Bridge - BKAV, the manufacturer of BPhone, the first Vietnam-made smartphone model, which has caught special attention internationally, is meeting with some troubles in the home market.

BKAV initially stated that the first batch of products would be delivered to customers on June 11. However, at the last minute, BKAV said the delivery would come one week later.

Do Thu Hang, BKAV’s PR Director, said since there are some changes in upgrading some apps on operating systems in the MADA (Mobile Application Distribution Agreement) signed between Google and OEMs (original equipment manufacturer), BKAV will need more time to update the upgrades.

Do Hoai Nam, a technology expert, said he advocates the BKAV decision on delaying the delivery.

“I don’t think the delay w.ould cause big problems,” he said.

However, many people are dissatisfied about the delay. “BKAV may try to run against the clock to upgrade BPhone and fix problems,” he commented.

The blogger said he accessed BKAV’s website some days ago and surprisingly saw the image of a new version of BPhone, which is more beautiful and modern than the one introduced at the BPhone launching ceremony.

“This seems to be abnormal,” he commented. “In general, the best version needs to be introduced at ‘hot’ moment”.

Also according to the blogger, technology experts have pointed out that BOS is not a perfect operating system. Meanwhile, some clients have had negative feedback about BPhone. 

“These could be reasons why they did not feel confident enough to market the products at this moment,” he commented.

Some days ago, there was heavy criticism from the public when local newspapers reported it had asked FPT Shop to give back the demo version of BPhone.

Some domestic websites then reported that BKAV had to recall BPhone products because of the errors found.

However, a representative of BKAV said that BKAV lent the product to FPT Shop so that the distributor could show the product to customers.

The representative also denied the ‘recall’ of products.

Meanwhile, a local newspaper showed pictures believed to be the images of the BPhone manufacturing factory in Cau Giay District in Hanoi. 

“The place which is believed to be the BPhone factory is located on a small alley surrounded by car sale showrooms,” the newspaper reported.

However, BKAV said this is a workshop that makes components for its SmartHome solutions.

BKAV launched BPhone in late May, a product which is “Designed by BKAV - Made in Vietnam” and described by the manufacturer as “incredibly wonderful”.
