The incident occurred on Vietnam Airlines’ flight VN253 from Hanoi to HCM City on the afternoon of July 26.
The man whose name has not yet been released was former director of a large real estate firm in HCM City who was in the business-class seats when accused of sexually harassing a young woman who sat next to him.
According to the female passenger, the man touched on her shoulder and then moved to her bottom. Immediately, she shouted loudly at him, asking “What are you doing?”, and he replied that “I am not doing anything to harm you”.
At that time, the man smelt of alcohol and seemed to be drunk.
Right after that, the chief flight attendant came to reassure the woman and then reported the case to the captain who requested the man be removed from the flight.
In a document sent to Vietnam Airlines on the case, the chief flight attendant said that the man had drunk too much and sexually assaulted the young woman.
However, the businessman denied what he was accused, explaining that the situation was a misunderstanding. He said that when trying to find his seat, he suddenly fell down. One of his hands accidentally touched the young woman.
Dinh Viet Thang, head of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, said that the agency would investigate the case and the man could face a flight ban. Dtinews
