On July 12, the People's Committee of Hoi An City (Quang Nam province) announced that it is verifying and reviewing regulations to handle the incident involving singer Duc Tuan climbing onto the ancient tiled roof in the old town for a photo shoot.

Earlier, on July 10, singer Duc Tuan posted a photo series titled "Hoi An - Mysterious Ancient Town" on his personal page, including images of him wearing an ao dai and standing and sitting on the roofs of Hoi An’s old town houses.

The post quickly attracted the attention of the online community. While some expressed outrage at the photo series, many criticized Duc Tuan for taking photos on the ancient roofs of this UNESCO World Heritage site.

Nguyen Van Lanh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoi An City, stated that Duc Tuan's actions were unacceptable.

According to Lanh, even a photo of an ordinary person standing on the roof would be inappropriate. This site is a world cultural heritage, and such behavior violates the Heritage Law. He urged the singer to reconsider his actions and refrain from repeating such behavior anywhere, not just in Hoi An.

In response to the backlash, Duc Tuan removed the photos of him standing and sitting on the old town's rooftops on July 11. He had initially claimed that the photo series was taken with the café owner's consent.

However, on the evening of July 12, speaking to VietNamNet, a representative of Café 166 Tran Phu (Hoi An), where Duc Tuan took the photos, denied granting permission for the singer to climb over the railing onto the roof.

"The café has a railing to prevent customers from climbing onto the roof to avoid breaking the tiles. We never allow any customers to go onto the roof for photos," the female manager stated.

She added that because the café was crowded and the service counter was on the ground floor, they did not notice the singer's group climbing onto the roof in time to prevent it.

"Like any other customers, they came to the café, ordered drinks, and sat on the rooftop balcony. We were serving as usual and were unaware of the incident until the photo series was posted online. The singer's claim that we allowed him to climb onto the roof for photos is untrue and has negatively impacted our café," the manager confirmed.
