Khanh Hoa’s People’s Committee Chair Nguyen Tan Tuan on July 25 signed a decision on approving an adjustment of general development planning of Cam Ranh City by 2045.
Cam Ranh will be an economic, cultural, educational science and technology center of Khanh Hoa’s southern area. It will also be a tourism and logistics urban area with a logistics research and education center. It will serve as the focal point of road, railway, waterway and airway transportation of the province.
In the future, the city will have theme parks, golf course, and ecological parks, and will be connected with Cam Lam Airport area.
Cam Ranh City is expected to cover a total area of 33,708 hectares and have a population of 820,000 by 2045. Regarding land use demand of the total urban area by 2045, land for construction will be 14,659.55 hectares, or 124.5 sq m per head.
Under the general development planning which has been approved, Cam Ranh would develop urban subdivisions with 9 zones. Zone 1 would be the area of public administration, commercial and service centers, which cover the current inner city’s wards. It is expected to have a population of 255,000 and area of 2,800 hectares.
Zone 2 would be reserved for tourism, culture and natural conservation center in the northwest in Hon Rong mountainous area. There would be diverse types of tourism associate with natural conservation.
Zone 3 would be a commercial and logistics service center with an airport in Cam Nghia ward of Cam Thanh Nam commune, and a part of Cam Phuc Bac ward. This would be a general logistics, airport logistics and international waterway passenger port.
Zone 4 would be a service and tourism center located within the administrative boundary of Cam Nghia ward. This would be the place for coastal tourism service, logistics urban area with Cam Ranh International Airport and waterway passenger terminal.
In Zone 5, Cam Ranh would develop tourism services, agriculture and ecological landscapes, which covers a part of Ba Ngoi ward and Cam Phuoc Dong commune.
Zone 6 would be an industrial and logistics urban area, located in Cam Thinh Dong commune and a part of Cam Thinh Tay commune.
Zone 7 would be a peninsula tourism service urban area, located in Cam Thinh Dong commune and a part of Cam Lap commune.
Zone 8 would be the western ecological landscape center, covering CamPhuocDong and Cam Thinh Tay communes.
Zone 9, in Cam Nghia ward, would be the national defence and national security area.
Cam Ranh is an important part of Khanh Hoa province, located in the south central region of Vietnam. Its GRDP growth rate was 12.73 percent in the first half 2024.
