VietNamNet Bridge – Professor Nguyen Ba Duc, former director of the National Cancer Hospital K in Hanoi cum deputy head of Vietnam Cancer Association, said at a conference that cancer is one of most common cause of deaths in the world and in Vietnam, the disease kills 75,000 people in the country annually.

The conference, held in the capital city of Hanoi on October 22 by Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Vietnam and Insurance Company VietinAviava, discussed Consultation of life-threatening diseases – prevention and treatment” – up to 150,000 fresh cancer cases are recorded in the country annually.

Common cancer types are lung cancer, rectum cancer, transverse colon cancer, liver cancer, cervical cancer, breast cancer in women and prostate gland in men. However, people do not know that one third of cancer cases can be preventive, one third of patient having cancer can be cured and half of number of cancer patients have long life thanks to good treatment.

Treatment of cancer is costly; accordingly patients must have plentiful source of financing to follow therapy and nutrition - an important part of cancer treatment and a good diet during and after treatment that can help you feel better and stay stronger and rest.

These costs affect decision of patients with cancer to receive recommended treatment. This is a particularly serious issue for individuals with a modest annual income.

In addition to cancer, the conference participants also discussed other fatal diseases such as heart problems, Cerebrovascular accident and kidney and liver problems that are spiraling and how to prevent, regular medical check-up. Cancer can be treated at an early stage; accordingly early diagnosis can improve chance of survival.
