Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Duc Phat said nearly 300,000 households lost their income in recent months or were affected by drought and saltwater intrusion, the worst in the Mekong Delta in the last 100 years.

"Whenever farmers have a good crop, the prices for agricultural produces fall. Profit for farmers is little and it is big for others. This is a big issue that makes us think a lot," said the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development.
