Update news car registration
Roughly half of the registration facilities in HCMC have stopped working recently, causing long queues of vehicles to rush to complete their periodic safety inspection and registration.
An interdisciplinary team led by the leader of Vietnam Register will inspect the overall operations of auto registration centers in the country from January 1 to December 31, 2023.
The HCMC Department of Transport has proposed the city government adopt a quota system for new car registrations by individuals as Singapore does to limit private vehicles on the city’s increasingly crowded roads.
According to the city’s social-economic report of the first quarter 2013, more than 104,000 new vehicles, including over 26,000 cars, were registered during this period. On average, the city had nearly 300 newly-registered cars per day.
