The inspection team that consists of the leaders of Vietnam Register, the Vietnam Motor Vehicle Testing Center and representatives of the Ministry of Transport and the Departments of Transport of localities, will inspect bribery fighting and prevention activities, and business conditions for providing registration and inspection services.

Contents that will be inspected include dossiers on the business conditions of the centers, human resource conditions, training activities for inspectors, equipment and the inspection of motor vehicles, and the management, usage and recording of inspection data.

The team will also take responsibility for supplementing and revising regulatory provisions to complete mechanisms and eliminate the shortcomings of inspection activities.

Earlier, the HCMC Police Department had razed a “giving and taking bribes” ring at nine registration and inspection centers for motor vehicles in HCMC and other provinces such as Long An, Tien Giang, Soc Trang and Dong Thap.

According to the investigators, representatives of the inspection centers had taken bribes to ignore violations of owners of vehicles subject to the inspection.

Till December 27, four inspection centers in HCMC and one center in Tien Giang were forced to suspend operations by Vietnam Register due to violations in providing registration and inspection services.
