A contest for Vietnamese families to cook Yan’s popular dishes will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. on January 7 at the Crescent Mall in District 7, HCMC.

Yan has visited many parts of Asia to meet other executive chefs at hotels and resorts, and locals to learn about their cooking stories and recipes. The upcoming food show will have eight episodes, featuring 30 dishes made out of his knowledge and experience in Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines.

Yan said in a statement that he has had around 35 years hosting cooking shows. “I am a big fan of Asian culinary and my philosophy is to help people easily cook typical Asian dishes with simple ingredients.”

TV viewers can learn how to cook shrimp, fish head noodles and chicken curry with eggplant. In each episode, he will choose a main material or a main food theme to introduce recipes of many specialties of a location.

The show will also present some invited guest chefs, including Datuk Fazley Yaakob and Hoang Minh Nhat, the winner of the second season of Master Chef Vietnam, to share cooking knowledge and techniques with Yan.
