The special aircraft carrying General Secretary To Lam and the Vietnamese delegation landed at Wattay International Airport, Vientiane, earlier today. The visit is made at the invitation of Lao Party General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith.

Welcoming General Secretary To Lam at the airport on the Lao side were Standing Member of the Party Central Secretariat Vilay Lakhamphong, Chief of the Central Office Phet Phomphiphak, Minister of Education and Sports Thongsalith Mangnomek, Minister of Foreign Affairs Thongsavanh Phomvihane, Head of the President’s Office Khemmani Pholsena, Head of the Party’s External Relations Committee Bounleua Phandanouvong, and Minister and Head of the Prime Minister's Office Bouakhong Nammavong.

From the Vietnamese side, attendees included Ambassador Nguyen Minh Tam and his spouse, representatives from Vietnamese government agencies and embassy staff in Laos, along with members of the Vietnamese community living and studying in the country.

At the Presidential Palace, the official welcome ceremony was chaired by Lao Party General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith. Also present were Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man.

Along the route leading to the palace, thousands of local residents and schoolchildren dressed in traditional Lao attire waved the national flags of both countries in a heartfelt show of hospitality.

The motorcade carrying General Secretary To Lam arrived at the Presidential Palace, where President Thongloun Sisoulith personally welcomed him at the car door.

After receiving a bouquet from Lao children, General Secretary To Lam joined President Thongloun Sisoulith on the ceremonial platform. The national anthems of Vietnam and Laos were played by a military band. The two leaders then inspected the guard of honor of the Lao People's Army.

Following the formalities, the leaders warmly greeted and introduced senior officials from both sides who were present at the ceremony.

As part of the official visit, General Secretary To Lam will hold talks and meetings with top Lao leaders to exchange views on the internal situations of both Parties and countries. They will assess bilateral cooperation outcomes and set out major orientations for future collaboration. The leaders will also witness the signing of key agreements between ministries, sectors, and localities, forming a legal basis and new momentum for deeper, more effective bilateral ties.

During the visit, General Secretary To Lam and the Vietnamese delegation also laid a wreath at the Monument to the Unknown Soldiers in Vientiane to honor fallen heroes.
