The U22 Vietnam team will participate in the CFA Team China 2025 international football tournament, as part of their preparation for major events in 2025, including the 2026 AFC U23 Asian Cup qualifiers and the 33rd SEA Games.

This year’s tournament features four strong teams from Asia: U22 China (host), U22 Vietnam, U22 Uzbekistan, and U22 South Korea.

A crucial tournament for U22 Vietnam

This is the second consecutive year that U22 Vietnam has accepted an invitation to participate in this prestigious tournament. In September 2024, under acting head coach Dinh Hong Vinh, U22 Vietnam played three valuable friendly matches:

Lost to U22 China (1-2)
Lost to U22 Uzbekistan (1-2)
Defeated U22 Malaysia (2-1)

This year’s participation will provide valuable experience for U22 Vietnam ahead of the 2026 AFC U23 Asian Cup qualifiers and the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand.

U22 Vietnam will first face U22 South Korea on March 20, followed by U22 Uzbekistan on March 23. The final match against host U22 China is scheduled for March 25.

The U22 Vietnam team will reconvene on March 10 at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center. Due to the March 2025 FIFA Days, when the senior national team is also training, assistant coach Dinh Hong Vinh will take on the role of head coach, as appointed by head coach Kim Sang Sik.
