Chairman of the Government Office Mai Tien Dung on May 10 received Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Daniel R. Russel to make preparations for U.S. President Obama’s upcoming visit to Viet Nam in late May.

The U.S. President’s visit to Viet Nam, a crucial event in the two nations’ relations, will promote the bilateral relationship and create a foundation for enhancing the two sides’ relationship in the future, affirmed Mr. Dung.

It will create an opportunity for both to deepen the Comprehensive Partnership relations with specific and realistic agreements, he added.

The visit is expected to form comprehensive cooperation in security, investment and trade between the two sides, the Chairman said, suggesting the U.S. actively respond to issues of mutual concerns in bilateral and regional relations.

At the meeting, the two officials discussed specific issues in the two nations’ relations and projects invested by the U.S. investors in Viet Nam.
