Dong Van Lam, chairman of the provincial government, on October 16 approved the decision to dismiss Thanh for the lack of responsibility in managing property, enabling realtors and State staff to obtain benefits illegally.

Meanwhile, the provincial government issued warnings against Tran Truong Son, vice chairman, and Pham Van Tam, former chairman of the city’s People’s Committee, as disciplinary measures for their violations.

The Inspection Commission of the Central Party Committee in a conclusion revealed that the three leaders were responsible for mismanagement while on duty, resulting in a host of serious violations while executing the policies of the Communist Party and the State to support policy people in renovating their houses, and illegally providing reductions of or exemptions from land use fees over a long period.

Regarding land management, the leaders’ irresponsibility had enabled realtors and some State staff in the city to exploit loopholes in the State’s policy, illegally reaping benefits, leading to major losses for the State budget.

Earlier, in mid-September, Thanh had been relieved of his posts as deputy secretary of the city’s Party Committee and a member of the Standing Committee for the 2010-2015 and 2015-2020 tenures by the Inspection Commission, while Tran Truong Son and Pham Van Tam had received warnings.
