The State Council of Professorship has announced its decision, listing him among 71 individuals attaining professor status this year, and one of only three in the mechanical engineering - dynamics field.
Born in 1964 in Yen Thang commune, Y Yen district, former Nam Dinh province, Ho Xuan Nang graduated from Hanoi University of Science and Technology in May 1986, majoring in internal combustion engines. He earned his PhD in mechanical engineering - dynamics at the same university in 1992 and became an associate professor in 2022.
Currently a lecturer and the Chairman of the University Council at Phenikaa University, he previously served as Chairman of the Board and Director of the Phenikaa Institute for Advanced Study and Technology. In his application, Nang stated he has spent 18 years and 3 months involved in both undergraduate and postgraduate education.
In terms of academic accomplishments, Ho Xuan Nang has supervised three doctoral candidates to successful dissertation defenses and is currently mentoring five others. He has also guided numerous master’s students. He has led one national-level project, one ministry-level project, two state sub-projects, three institutional projects, and one institutional-level key project. He is currently leading another national-level research project.
As of June 30, 2025, he has published 109 scientific works, including 55 articles in prestigious international journals and 14 papers presented at Scopus-indexed conferences. Since becoming an associate professor, he has been the primary author of 22 international publications.
A chairman with exclusive inventions
Ho Xuan Nang has been awarded 14 exclusive patents and five utility solutions, with 12 of those having him as the primary inventor. Many of these have been successfully transferred and commercialized; two patents are being used in large-scale industrial production, while four others have been turned into real-world products.
He has also authored eight specialized books published by reputable publishers. His research is highly regarded for its practical value, closely tied to innovation and industrial application.
In the education sector, Nang described himself as someone who always aligns with the goals and curriculum outlined by the Ministry of Education and Training, helping students cultivate creative thinking and self-research skills. He believes a teacher must constantly learn and improve to keep pace with scientific and technological advancements.
“I am always passionate about my profession, uphold the ethics of educators, and continuously innovate my teaching methods,” he wrote in his candidate profile.
Beyond being a scholar, Ho Xuan Nang is a well-known entrepreneur in the high-end construction materials industry. He has previously held executive roles including Chairman and CEO of A&A Green Phoenix Group, Director of Vinaconex’s high-end stone company, and CEO of Vicostone, a leading quartz-based artificial stone manufacturer in Vietnam.
Since June 2014, he has served as Chairman of the Board at Vicostone, a member of the Phenikaa Group. By the end of 2024, he ranked 11th among the wealthiest individuals on Vietnam’s stock exchange with an estimated net worth of 8.93 trillion VND (about 360 million USD), according to stock exchange data.
Balancing business and research, Nang has played a pivotal role in developing Phenikaa University into an institution driven by innovation, research orientation, and technology transfer.
As the leader of Phenikaa University, he emphasized that the school aims not only to train skilled professionals but also to nurture individuals capable of transformation and national service.
